History: In 1945 the Cleveland Buckeyes beat the Homestead Grays of the Negro National League in four straight games to win the Negro World Series. The club was skippered by player-manager Quincy Trouppe, who is generally recognized as one of the greatest catchers of all time. In 1952, at the age of 39, Trouppe appeared in six games for the Cleveland Indians, becoming one of the oldest rookies in Major League history.
